What are the Particle Transfer Rollers?
Here's a bit more about the Particle Transfer Rollers that all 8mm cine pass over prior to being digitised on the FlashScan. The 8mm film to dvd process is carried out as follows:
The PTRs are the pair of rollers vertically above one and other that Camera-Ron is showing you. They are made by Kodak and are made from a semi sticky rubber. Any loose surface dust is picked up by the rollers.
We clean and change the rollers many times a day.
The rollers are made by Kodak and are exactly what are used in cinemas... if they still project with film of course.

Transfers on the High Street
With the sad news that yet another much loved and seemingly established name on the High Street is in administration and has a question mark over it's future I can't help but reflect on whether customers will still take their precious Video Transfers and Cine Transfersto a retail outlet rather than dealing directly with an established business such as ours.
Any High Street chain whether it's a specialist photo shop or electrical outlet, will be subcontracting your work out to another company.
I know as we have been supplier to many of them over the years. Jacobs Photo Video, Youngs Cameras and Jessops.
Cut out the middleman.. deal direct with the specialists
